Names stay in this browser and are not sent anywhere.
Enter everybody, choose how many teams, and it deals them out. The teams come out as even as the numbers allow — with seven people and two teams you get four and three, never five and two.
Even sides, every time
The names are shuffled and then dealt round the teams one at a time, like cards. That is what keeps the sizes within one of each other no matter how the numbers divide, and it is why a group of nine splits three ways cleanly instead of leaving somebody spare.
Partners for card games
Most partnership games seat partners opposite each other, so the pairs this produces are a seating plan as well as a team sheet: first and third around the table are one side, second and fourth the other. Draw again if the same two keep landing together.
