Terms of use

Cardzo is free, and these terms are short. They cover this website and the optional account features of the Cardzo app for iPhone. By using either, you agree to them.

Who you are dealing with

Cardzo is made and run by Jonas Egeskov Nielsen, a private individual in Denmark (“we”). It is a personal project rather than a company. Contact: jonsegeskov29@gmail.com.

The app and Apple’s terms

The Cardzo app is distributed through Apple’s App Store. Your licence to the app itself is Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, and Apple’s Media Services Terms apply to the download. Where those terms and this page overlap about the app software, Apple’s terms prevail. This page adds the rules for the account features and for this website, which Apple’s terms do not cover.

The scorepad

The scorepad works without an account, without an internet connection and without payment, and we intend to keep it that way. What you type stays on your phone (see the Privacy policy). You are responsible for what you enter, including other people’s names.

Cardzo counts what you enter. Check any total that matters to you before acting on it: a mistyped entry, a house rule set differently from how your table plays, or a mistake of ours can all produce a wrong number, and undo exists for a reason. Cardzo is not a game and does not take money or arbitrate results; if your table plays for stakes, that is entirely between you.

Accounts

Signing in, with a name alone or with Apple, is optional and creates an account. You must be at least 13 years old to sign in, or older if the law where you live sets a higher minimum age for online services, and if you are under 18 you should have a parent’s or guardian’s permission. One account per person: do not sign in as someone else. You can sign out at any time, and Delete account in the app removes the account from our server; the Privacy policy says what stays with your circle. A guest account can only be reached from the phone that created it, so signing out of one without tying it to Apple leaves it behind: delete it first, or write to us.

Circles, game nights and shared records

Acceptable use

Do not use Cardzo to harass, impersonate or offend anyone; do not choose display names or circle names that are abusive or unlawful; do not try to reach data of circles you are not a member of; and do not interfere with the service or with other people’s use of it. We may remove content, close a circle or suspend an account that breaks these rules, and we will tell you why if we do, unless the law prevents it.

Content and rights

What you enter is yours. By using the account features you allow us to store it and show it to the people it is shared with, which is what the features are for. Cardzo’s software, design, rules texts and translations are protected by copyright and belong to us. The rules were written from scratch; you may read, print and link to them freely, but not republish them as your own.

Game names are used to identify the games whose rules and scores are described. Trademarks are the property of their respective owners; Cardzo is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them, and no logos, box art or official rule texts are reproduced.

Availability and changes

Cardzo is provided free of charge, as it is. We work to keep the account service running, but we do not promise that it is always available or free of errors, or that features will stay unchanged. The offline scorepad is not affected by the account service being down. If we ever close the account service, we will give reasonable notice inside the app and make your data available for export on request before it is switched off.

We may update these terms. The date at the foot of this page changes when we do, and a change that matters to you is announced in the app’s release notes.

Liability

Nothing on this page limits any right you have under the consumer-protection or data-protection laws of the country where you live, or our liability for intent, gross negligence, or anything that cannot lawfully be limited. Subject to that, and because Cardzo is a free service, we are not liable for losses that arise from using it, including from a wrong total, a lost match record, a dispute at your table, or the service being unavailable.

Purchases and refunds

There is nothing to buy in Cardzo: no price, no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertising. Our refund policy explains what would apply if that ever changed.

Governing law

These terms are governed by Danish law. If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of your own country, and you may bring a claim before the courts there. Danish courts have jurisdiction for everything else.
